🌕
The Full Moon will reach peak illumination on Sunday, September 7, 2025, around 2:09 P.M. EST.
The moon's phases for September's Full Moon are:
🌓 First Quarter: August 31.
🌕 Full Moon: September 7.
🌗 Last Quarter: September 14.
🌑 New Moon: September 21.

This year's Corn Moon will appear full between September 6 and September 8, depending on your location.

With the annual Corn Moon in Pisces comes a pair of eclipses, providing us with a unique opportunity to observe the complex interactions between the Earth, Moon, and Sun.

On September 7th, as the Full Moon rises, some areas of the Earth will be able to witness a Total Lunar Eclipse.

As the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, it dims the Moon and sometimes turns the lunar surface into a reddish hue. This interaction makes this Full Moon a Blood Moon.

Asia, eastern Africa, and western Australia.

Other areas will see partial eclipse.

💫
Remember that a lunar eclipse is typically accompanied by a solar eclipse. These celestial events occur periodically throughout the year.
On September 21st, there will be a Partial Solar Eclipse caused by the Moon's shadow on the Earth's surface.

While Solar Eclipses always take place during a New Moon, they are often restricted to specific areas on Earth. This limited visibility makes it much rarer to encounter one, especially a Total Solar Eclipse.

Over the open waters of the Southern Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

According to NASA, throughout September there will be some key astronomical events to look out for in the sky along with the Full Corn Moon.

These other astronomical events include:

  • Sunrise Conjunction Trio: In the eastern sky just before sunrise on September 19, the Moon, Venus, and Regulus (one of the brightest stars in the sky within the constellation Leo) will appear close together, forming what is known as a conjunction.
  • Saturn: Given Earth will find itself between this planet and the Sun, Saturn will be its closest and brightest this month, most especially on September 21st. Observable all month after dark in the eastern sky and early morning in the western sky.
  • Autumnal Equinox: On September 22nd, the Sun will be exactly above the equator, meaning the Earth is not tilted toward or away from the Sun. This placement makes day and night about exactly 12 hours long. For the Northern Hemisphere, this day marks the shift of the seasons into Fall.

Significance & Influences of the 2025 Corn Moon

The Full Corn Moon in Pisces occurs annually during Virgo season. From seed to harvest, the symbol for this lunation highlights the intentional planning and generational tending necessary for continued survival and renewal each year.

🌽
Roughly 10,000 years ago, we entered an integral relationship with a flowering wild grass native to Mexico and Central America. Known as Teosinte, this plant Kin would evolve into the ears of modern maize (corn) we eat and cultivate today.

Corn reminds us to align with growth cycles (both agricultural and spiritual) and honor sacred female wisdom for it is the mature female spikelets that become the life-giving fruits known as the grains or kernels on the ears of corn.

Behind the Moon's Name:

The Full Moon in September is commonly known as the Corn Moon in honor of the time of harvesting corn around the end of summer and start of fall by Indigenous Peoples in much of the northern United States. As such, it is also known as the Harvest Moon.

The September Full Moon is also known to Native Tribes across the Americas by the following names...

  • Leaves Turning Moon, Waatebagaa-giizis Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe)
  • Corn Moon, Mandaamini giizis Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe)
  • Moose Moon, Moozo giizis — Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe)
  • Gourd Moon, Wade Nuti (wah-day noong-tee) Catawba Language, Catawba Indian Nation, South Carolina
  • Nut Month, dulisdini Cherokee, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, North Carolina
  • Fall Moon, Ukiuqsraq Inupiat Language, North Slope, Alaska
  • Falling Leaf Moon, Poneʔna-wueepukw Neepaʔuk — Mahican Dialect, Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Wisconsin

This year potent energy from the total lunar eclipse and partial solar eclipse will catalyze big and small changes in our lives over the next few months into early next year.

Whether we want it to happen or not, Eclipse energy fast-tracks even the most subtle of shifts. Comics twists in the emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, and material are likely to unfold and blossom as a result.

As we move through this lunar month, understanding the energy of Virgo and Pisces can help us navigate the karmic level changes initiated on September 1st by Saturn's retrograde and heralded by the pair eclipses.

Virgo is often associated with everyday material things, work, and life’s routines. Virgo energy tends to be service-oriented, offering a health-conscious, efficient, and logical approach to the world rooted in our five senses. As an earth sign, Virgo thrives off of structure, safety, and security, which makes its energy very practical, methodical, and dependable, though often critical.
As the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces holds the vibration of endings bringing with it a level of emotional depth. Piscean energy is spiritual, creative, abstract, and free flowing. The esoteric and "out of this world" nature of Pisces also means it is often associated with duality, dreams, religion, fantasy, and even escapism.

The Virgo–Pisces axis is all about combining grounded practicality (Virgo) with compassionate flow (Pisces).

Known as the healers of the zodiac, Virgo and Pisces offer us a cosmic broom this eclipse season to sweep away toxicity in our subconscious sense of self that limits our ability to balance imagination and reality.

Two active astrological influences around the September Full Moon indicate that the Blood Moon Eclipse may offer a level of emotional intensity with key information or insights integral for our unfolding transformation.
The first influence comes from Mercury, which is known as the planet of communication.

This planet's presence highlights that difficult, raw, or emotional conversations may arise at this time. Luckily, since Mercury is in the sign of Virgo, we will have access to a level of attentiveness and sharpness of the mind that aids in navigating such conversations with compassion and tact.

The second active influence under this Eclipse is Black Moon Lilith, which is an astrological point based on the furthest point (Apogee) on the Moon’s orbit around the Earth.

The presence of Lilith near this month's Blood Moon Eclipse is pushing us to fully express the hidden or unacknowledged aspects of ourselves that patriarchal or societal norms deem should be repressed. Through this rebellion, which Black Moon Lilith is known for, comes an empowered form of personal growth.

As the lunar month continues, there are a few other major astrological points to look out for.
Shortly after the Blood Moon Eclipse, the Sun comes into an exact conjunction with the South Node in Virgo on September 10, 2025.

This conjunction pushes us to examine our sense of self in the context of the South Node patterns of Virgo. While strong belief structures around the self can help give form to how we show up in the world, in order to keep progressing as our authentic selves, we must release rigid or harsh expectations about who we are becoming.

Simply being who we are means accepting and bringing into the sunlight the aspects of ourselves that have been judged, dismissed, controlled, and labeled as not enough or broken.
Then on September 13, 2025, a Cazimi (which is when a planet comes within one degree to the Sun) in the sign of Virgo will occur with Mercury.

This Mercury Cazimi will help us expand our minds so that we can align how we see ourselves and express ourselves to our most authentic selves. On this day, such expansion may come through meditation, journaling, communication, or simply contemplation.

On September 21st, there is a Partial Solar Eclipse occurring in the sign of Virgo.

This Partial Solar Eclipse offers an opportunity for new beginnings in health and systems in our lives through our efforts to problem-solve and build skills. It urges us to redesign routines, optimize workflows, and implement steady habits that help us keep our feet on the ground but head in the clouds as we dream into being our greatest desires.

Right after the Partial Solar Eclipse comes the Autumnal Equinox on September 22nd.

The Autumnal Equinox aptly arrives to close out this lunar month as those of us in the Northern Hemisphere officially move into Fall. This energy shift further solidifies the culmination of chapters or cycles that the lunar eclipse brought to us earlier in the month.

🤍
Ultimately, the Full Corn Moon in Pisces is here to offer a level of spiritual clarity that honors our feelings and helps conclude lingering chapters as we surrender to becoming the creator of our life.

Dissolving to Evolve

Currently, cosmic events are encouraging and supporting us to push through the boundaries of our comfort zone and extend into more creative and liminal spaces that honor our need to evolve.

Strong death and (re)birth energy is present this lunar month, especially around the eclipses.

When we utilize the cosmic support available to reclaim agency over our lives, it is important to dissolve limiting structures of the self. These limiting structures of self can be the mindsets, stories, burnout cycles, unhelpful coping strategies, relationship patterns, health choices, or daily habits that leave us feeling stuck or as if there is more to life.

Even if we felt those limiting structures were key components of our life and who we are, we must embrace the ever-evolving versions of ourselves and know that our authentic selves will shine through no matter what shifts.

However, we must also hold space for any grief that may come up as we initiate change in our lives. Thanks to the watery energy of Pisces, a softer expansion is possible if we take the time to understand and feel the grief that arises.

🦋
Trust the fullness of who you are as does the caterpillar who dissolves then emerges to spread its wings for the first time to take flight.
🐍
Remember, like the snake who sheds their old skin to reveal themselves anew, beyond our worn-out layers of conditioning we have always been who we are becoming.

Dreaming into Being

As we move through this lunar month, the intensity of the eclipses reminds us that evolving is not only taking the necessary earthly steps to re-balance our lives. It also involves remembering there is so much more than our five senses.

With eclipses occurring for the Sun in Virgo and the Moon in Pisces, we are asked to bridge the physical and metaphysical realms.

Fortunately, the Lunar Eclipse in Pisces makes sure to remind us that our Spirit knows how to give form to what lives within our imagination, dreams, and heart.

While the Solar Eclipse in Virgo reaffirms the power of our action and commitment to the creations we wish to nourish in our life, whether it is a work of art, routine, or way of showing up in the world.

Together, the pair of eclipses this September calls on us to use our intuitive creativity and disciplined productivity to give birth to major reality shifts at the individual and collective level.

Leading Through Example

Last month's Full Moon offered us support as we stepped into our power as emotionally conscious and uniquely sovereign beings. By taking that step into our power, we have begun dancing with the divine to co-create futures as generations before us have.

Now in September, celestial energies urge us to discern how we would like to model the exercise of our power to evolve.

🦅
Insights fuel leadership. Observe and attune to the unseen and unspoken.

The following prompts can be used to reflect on how our personal evolution makes us a leader for collective change...

  • How do I build and value my wise self?
    • How do I do that for others?
  • What do I want to model to those around me or for the next generation?
  • Which generational cycles am I breaking?
  • What would a healed existence feel/look like and mean for myself, my descendants, and the planet?

Spiritual Practice Prompts for the Full Corn Moon

Messenger of Love

When we tend to relationships in a way that encourages reciprocity, respect, and responsibility, we engage in a profound spiritual act of love and resistance that fosters mutual health and wellbeing.

Take time to reach out (energetically, through writing, or other forms of communication) to those you are in relationship with and share about the kind of impact that they have had on your life.

Do this for at least 5 different relationships in your life (including people, places, animal or plant kin, objects, etc.).

As the Full Moon shines this Virgo season in the sign of Pisces, may we lean into the natural cycles of death and (re)birth, remembering we are free to change as circumstances demand. In this remembering, may we develop and strengthen our spiritual muscles to access higher truths about our path. Through these higher truths, may we embody the kind of leadership that helps us co-create a reality that nourishes our life and those we are connected to (even in the smallest of ways).

With love,

mgmc
