Full Moon Collective Energy for August 2025

The moon's phases for August's Full Moon in 2025 are:
🌓 First Quarter: August 1.
🌕 Full Moon: August 9.
🌗 Last Quarter: August 16.
🌑 New Moon: August 23.
The annual Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius will appear full between August 8 and August 10, depending on your location. It will be the last Full Moon before Eclipse Season begins.
Due to the brightness of the Full Moon, viewing the annual Perseids Peak meteor shower on August 12th-13th will be difficult. However, a few bright meteors may still be seen in the pre-dawn hours.
Throughout this month, be on the lookout for the Dumbbell Nebula (M27), which will appear high overhead on August nights. M27 is one of the easiest planetary nebulas to observe since its dumbbell-like shape appears as a small, faint patch of light within the Summer Triangle star pattern.
According to NASA, throughout August several other planets will be visible in the sky along side the Full Sturgeon Moon.
These other planets include:
- Mercury: Visible above the horizon during the second half of August. Appears very low, below 10 degrees altitude.
- Venus: Throughout the month will be moving close to Jupiter. Observable as it shines very brightly in the east each morning before sunrise, about 20 to 30 degrees above the horizon.
- Mars: Visible during the early evening sky, located low in the west for about an hour after sunset.
- Jupiter: Appears bright in the east each morning, together with Venus.
- Saturn: Observable in the east after dark with the constellations Cassiopeia and Andromeda. By dawn, it will make its way over to the western part of the sky where early risers can view it on August mornings.
Significance & Influences of the 2025 Sturgeon Moon
This August's Full Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius offers a period to reflect on our individual and collective evolution.
With a lineage traced back to around 136 million years ago, giant lake sturgeons remind us that long-term survival depends on our ability to adapt.
Interestingly, sturgeons have a dual-pump respiratory system that helps them to breathe without constantly swimming. This adaptation illustrates the importance of continuous, coordinated action to navigate the turbid waters or situations presented to us.
Such lessons from nature reflect the type of wisdom that the asteroid Chariklo encourages us to tap into this Full Moon. While several other asteroids will be on display, Chariklo (known as the Oracle or Goddess of Spirit Medicine) will have a powerful influence on this month's lunation.

During this lunar cycle with the futurenergy of Aquarius, expect electric insight to come in, but be mindful of the chance for misunderstandings.
This potential stems from Mercury being in retrograde until it stations direct on August 11th. Until the planet leaves its shadow phase on August 25th, communicating with patience, kindness, and our inner voice in mind is key.
When we listen to that voice within us, we will find the energetic support for breakthroughs and easeful change. However, the influence of Uranus (one of the ruling planets of Aquarius) tends to heighten emotions and bring in potential volatility, especially concerning friends, groups, and society’s frameworks.
With the Full Moon in Aquarius this Leo season, there is likely to be a renewed interest in your social scene, community, and humanitarian issues.
However, it might be difficult getting together with others, taking action, or following through with plans.
Such difficulty may come from the movement of Mars into the air sign of Libra on August 6th.
As Mars settles into the energy of Libra, we may notice the need for a greater sense of balance, order, and fairness in personal relationships and neighborly connections.
On August 8th, the energy of the Lion's Gate portal peaks as Sirius returns to the sky after being rendered invisible by the rays of the Sun.
This symbolic rebirth of the spiritual Sun helps us revitalize connections with our soul.
After the Full Moon on August 9th, there will be the Venus-Jupiter Conjunction.
This is an auspicious astrological event that brings in warmth, harmony, creativity, abundance, and good feelings that may play out in the home or family space as a day of rest or inspiration.
With the influence of Cancer, the soft energy of this conjunction encourages us to turn inward, deepening our connection to our heart and understanding of our feminine side.
Authenticity over Performance
Under this lunation, the fixed sister signs Leo and Aquarius highlight the powerful axis of personal expression and universal belonging. As a result, we might be feeling pulled in opposite directions this cycle due to the ache of not fitting in or the overwhelm of trying to conform.
Since Leo and Aquarius align with the midpoints of their respective seasons, the two signs ask us to ground our growth in balance.
It's important to understand that dance between air energy and fire energy can either feed or extinguish each other!
With the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius, be prepared to explore the axis of giving and receiving, regarding all energies at the personal and collective level.
The polarity between Leo and Aquarius indicates a need to build communities that honor individuality in community.
What this means is being able to balance standing tall and strong in who you are while showing up in service to your community and your vision of the future. As such, the Full Moon this August urges us to reflect on whether we are being seen and appreciated for our authentic and unique light.
Fortunately, this lunar cycle features the bold movement and passion of the fire sign with the intellectual and communication strengths of the air sign to help us adjust our relating style or skillset.
Make note of any magnetic pulls to people and situations that truly see us and get who we are.
This lunar cycle is a good time to reconsider our public presence or professional image by asking ourselves the following ...
- What is my role in the large whole?
- What do I truly want to contribute to?
- How can my uniqueness or light be a gift that uplifts others?
Checkpoint for Transformation
The Full Moon in the sign of Aquarius illuminates the tension of staying within what feels safe and leaping into what comes next. It speaks directly to our future, pushing us to proactively imagine, invent, and integrate what is necessary for our evolution.
Given these archetypal associations, this lunation sheds light on the benefits of free-thinking and being different.
With the influence of the Leo Sun, it makes us pause to see if we are loving boldly, speaking our truth, and leading with the heart.
This Full Moon is a soul-level invitation to let go of trying to fit into outdated systems. It is encouraging us to instead honor the wild, quirky, and revolutionary parts of you that long to be seen, expressed, and valued.
The following prompts can be used to reflect on whether we are stepping into alignment with who we are becoming...
- In what area(s) of my life do I most often feel like the Outsider?
- How can embracing the archetypal energies of Aquarius help me right now?
Similar to last month's message, which asked us to question the "shoulds" dictated about our path, this lunar cycle invites us to free ourselves from the binds of cultural expectations and external approval.
This Aquarian urge for liberation from situations, relationships, roles, and group dynamics that do not align with our authentic self stems from its two ruling planets, Saturn and Uranus.
Saturn is authority and discipline. While Uranus is rebellion and awakening. Together, the planets make Aquarius a sign known for its exercise of their sovereignty to invite the new while respecting the old.
Breaking free of situations that make you feel boxed in, suffocated, or silenced is a critical part of aligning with a future that honors our authentic selves. While the cage might be invisible, your soul knows that it is there.
Within us all are dreamers, visionaries, and healers. This lunar cycle, we are the vision board coming to life.
The August Full Moon wants us to see a path forward and make exciting developments by embodying the unexpected and independent spirit of Aquarius.
Tapping into Knowingness
The progressive energy from Aquarius is all about communal understanding and bringing our consciousness to what we need to know. Regarded as the sign that embodies the mantra of "I Know," Aquarius pushes us to explore our inner knowing.
During the lunation on August 9th, a veil is being lifted from the collective, allowing clarity to arrive through downloads, synchronicities, and emotional breakthroughs rather than a strictly logical path.
Unpacking our emotionality is central to the exploration of the wisdom within.
Through presence and awareness, we can begin developing radical honesty about our feelings and the stories we share when communicating with others about our emotions. Such emotional consciousness opens us up to the insights hidden within our dreams and the temple of our hearts.
Receiving the answers that always lie within is a matter of asking the right questions.
Some questions to assist with this process of receiving aligned answers include...
- What does my spirit say?
- How does my heart feel?
- What are my dreams telling me?
- How is the land informing me?
Fortunately, this lunar cycle offers a focused period for strengthening our intuition, developing confidence in our inner knowing, and becoming responsive to the containers for our emotionality.
Be sure to take advantage of the Full Moon's supportive energy to step into our power as emotionally conscious and uniquely sovereign beings. If we all step into our power, we can reduce the self-doubt, competition, and comparison that stifles personal and collective evolution.
Working with Animal Spirit Medicine
With the influence of Chariklo on this Full Sturgeon Moon, we are reminded of the healing powers of Mother Nature. One manifestation of such Medicine comes from our connection to Animal Spirits.
All living creatures are included when we refer to Animal Spirits, and there is no hierarchy among them. Since no being is better than another, it is critical to stay open and curious, releasing any expectations about what Animal Spirit may show up for us.
An Animal Spirit can show up to share their Medicine in several ways, including...
- as a synchronistic sighting or reminder within the earthly realm
- as a symbol or guide in our dreams, visions, and meditative journeys
When an Animal Spirit seeks to share its Medicine with us, it is important to practice reciprocity and humility.
Intentional care of our connections to Animal Spirits may look like...
- sharing words of invocation whenever we call upon their Medicine for ritual, ceremony, or energy practices
- gifting a song, prayer, or plant offering in gratitude for their Medicine
- placing images or figures of them on our altar space/where we pray
- intentionally watching for and noting their presence
As the Full Moon shines this Leo season in the sign of Aquarius, may we allow the warmth of our light to encourage others to shine bright. In doing so, may we remember that there is nobody quite like ourselves, and what makes us authentically ourselves is valuable to the collective.
As we remember this about who we are, may we nourish the sacred relationships that support us on our path, including the ones within the Spirit realm. May we all find more quiet moments to listen to our wisdom through the temple of our heart. When we enter that sacred space, may we find the answers to make our life our greatest work of art.
With love,
mgmc
